Think of it more like The Zenith from terraria... I doubt Flashlight would actually want Robby to force us to use this weapon, but it'd be much more symbolic if you did. It's just supposed to be a cool end game final weapon to display how much you've grown.
See, I get that, but I still prefer a game like this to not treat the weapon that's god crafted as "the best one that can cure cancer and aids at once", with a unified all class theme that is doomed to make everyone look samey. Plus, god weapons don't have the actual capacity to be crafted ala ultima weapon style, nor are they as cool as other swords (gilded sword > master sword, fight me).
Both of you have good arguments here. I doubt Excalibur would make everyone look samey since I have zero plans for an all-class set (that would just be boring, plus Hybrid Set really did not work well in HH); just a "Star Rod-esque" weapon. I do think it's a good idea to have the thing crafted a la Ultima, though right now, the most legendary crafting material in the game is a Shellshocker Spike, and I don't think that's something you really have to go completely out of your way to get. That other thing's opinion-based lest there are mechanics that make one item or the other objectively better, so you can have that one.

Also, yeah, like Troopas said, I wouldn't go out of my way to force anyone to use one weapon. There's a difference between "boring" and "dickish."

Since the sets coming up are probably going to be the ultimate set... I think it's time to bring out Excalibur.
