Revisiting Shurikens (Warrior Ranged Skill)

Post by Flashlight237 » Fri Aug 07, 2020 11:32 am

Gonna be going back to this old bird, mainly because it feels more necessary at the moment. Why? Well, with homing arrows being a thing now, here's what we have to deal with.:

Warrior: None (However long their weapon can reach.)
Mage: Storm Cloud (28.3 feet AOE; max 175% damage; also may deal 10 poison damage)
Archer: Normal Attack (30 feet), Homing Arrow (however far they feel like going; max 200% damage)
Gunman: Normal Attack (33.3 feet), Grenade (10 feet (tested range when thrown right), Max 900% damage, can throw three at once), Coin Shot (same as normal attack; max 300% damage)

While mages too are affected by goshdang Homing Arrow, at least they got AoE by their side. Warriors are affected by Homing Arrow the most due to, well, having no ranged option still. This is harder to deal with now when you gotta deal with archers shooting green orbs everywhere like they're using aim-assist (granted Kingdom Hearts had it too in the form of the Lock-On feature, but its much more simplified than this), not to mention that its hard to get loot legitimately or otherwise when you got an archer being a litterbug.

That's why I'm bringing back shurikens:

As we all know, skill damage gets factored in last in the damage formula, minus passive and active buffs of course. I originally suggested 30-50% damage for the skill, but I think I'll nerf it just a tiny bit...

Skill: Shuriken
Range: 20 feet (halfway between a grenade and an arrow)
Skill Levels: 3
Skill Damage: 20% + 10% per skill level (Max: 40%)
Skill Cost: 0 MP (MP seems to scale linearly per skill level)

I am iffy about the skill cost, though. Part of me wants to make it cost no MP because I don't think people would be fond of using MP as a warrior, but another part of my believes just having 1 MP in there should reduce spammability alone.

Oh, the shurikens? I think they should cost $2 each, right between normal ammunition and grenades. Yeah.

Not sure what to do about mages, though. Robby seems a little bent on making them a support class from what I can tell from their skill tree, but the community is a bit too small to see their support potential. Hmm.

Yeah mages have storm clouds but the u cant hit bats that are on the rock formations but every other class other than warrior (will be able to with shurikens) is able to hit them. I think either make is so they can or make it so that the storm cloud can move some to compensate for that. Until gvg there is no reason for support classes and the cloud stays in one place making it harder to heal during heavy combat instead of being able to guild heal which would be faster and more effective. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the healing cloud heal everyone under it anyways?

Totally support. Everytime i try to farm/grind there comes even low lvl archer and easily kill every monster before i can even try to reach it.

No MP needed, it should instead have a very slow fire rate. Flashlight is right saying that warrior users choose warrior to avoid having to use too many MP skills.

As i respect ppl opinions you should re-think it(or some might say shut up- no offence). In every online game every class is meant to have equal/similar chances to lvl up. Here as it was mentioned before warrior have to spend a lot more time to kill as many mobs as any other class so why punish us even more?. The only thing we have better for now is defence and power which is defined by set we wear. Skills? oh please, f.e. Stone Man which gives us even better def-like we need it so badly now, but we becomes slower( honestly one of the worst skill i've ever seen for warrior class). Giving some classes huge benefits compare to others is the worst thing yo can do in any online game with PV.

I think that shurikens aren't the way to do it. Mages have it worse than warriors as they're worse in ALMOST every way and need a buff. (seriously nobody goes mage because of it.) Maybe warriors could have long swords or faster moving. But I don't think shurikens are the way. I think mages need a buff more (yes I am bias because I am a mage)
