Killing a boss for leaderboards

In order to get +1 for killing a boss on leaderboards do I need to get the last hit on it or do the most damage OR just hit it once

If I'm not mistaken, you will just need to have hit it at least once currently.

why does I haven't gain eliapedia of the new boss when I also initiate damage on it?
