OK. Upgrading the mage's base Protection Field seems like quite the waste (only upgrades the forcefield HP and adds on to the depletion rate of your MP (this MP problem has been solved, but just throwing it out there ...)
Upgrading forcefield should, in addition A: Improve the overall duration of the skill (currently at 40 seconds, which is usually never reached due to it's crappy defense, which leads into suggestion B, but it should be improved by 10 seconds after every upgrade after level 1)
B: each upgrade after level 1 gives it defense equal to 5% of your overall defense WITH equips on (it's currently without equips on .... so again, it's defensive properties are crap)
So at max level it's stats would be:
1100 Forcefield HP
80 second maximum duration
20% of your current/base defense (including equips)
Just a suggestion, but feel free to give your balancing issues, or feedback.
Buff to Protection Field
Re: Buff to Protection Field
Thanks for the feedback! I suppose having it inherit it's defense from your players base defense would present some issues when having a build with extremely low base defense. I'll make a change to the skill in the coming update that makes it's defense inherit from your characters total defense instead of base defense.
It will start at 10% your characters defense plus 4% for each upgrade. Meaning at max upgrade it will inherit 30% of your total defense. Hopefully this will help as your described.
As for the time of the shield, the way I currently have skills set up is that they only allow for two numerical values to be upgraded per level. Adding a 3rd value in for a skill will require me to re-work the programming a bit. In other words, it's not a simple tweak. So perhaps I'll have the time increase for another force field skill down the road soon. I do still have plans to add another one or two upgrades to the skill in the future, so the time extension could be added to one of those.

Re: Buff to Protection Field
Ok i've tested the new protection field, much, much better in my opinion (actually serves it's purpose of being a protection .... field)
Couldn't test it's full potential due to the server shutdown (was at a casual farming place ... taking 1 digits of damage) but it should work like a charm anywhere, all the same.
