Story Progression - Ch 11

How do I progress beyond ch 11? I am in the Cortex room while he is being killed. But the door never opens. This is what my mission book says.

Yes, I have been in the room during multiple boss kills and the door will not open after the kill
(I will say I am not dealing much damage (probably a hit or two) when the boss is killed but is that an issue?)

I mean like I'm in chapter 12 after going to the ancient house which was a sad sight to be behold
