Factory Security Robot: Robo-Dillo + Dinosaur Boss Stuff

Post by Flashlight237 » Mon Jan 13, 2020 10:31 am

Hey there. So, it seems we're getting close to encountering the first boss of the game. Judging by the tracks, it looks like it's gonna be a dinosaur, most likely a T-Rex or a related creature. Before that, though, I wanna get to the factory. Because of this, well, I made a security robot.:

Yep. The Robo-Dillo. The robot doesn't have a mouth because I wanted to go for a Metal Sonic-ish deal. This creature doesn't roll up in a ball unlike the real armadillos; instead, it would fire homing missiles that blow up in people's faces. Yeah, that'll teach people to challenge themselves. I was basically inspired by Army Dillo from DK64 with the design.

Speaking of, for the dinosaur itself, I dunno if a boss theme is already planned for it, but one thing I'd like to suggest is to try something like what Dk64 did with its bosses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8Xh5tARv9I

Pretty much they took the stage music and remixed it into something more intense/apocalyptic sounding. I think it would make boss battles more fun. But yeah, there's that.

For the sewers, here's a Dire Rat.:

Couldn't figure out how to puppetize the thing, so it just looks badass.

just a few suggestions

-rats should walk on all 4s
-no robot theme
-an enemy that can move and shoot is probably going to be op to anyone that cant tank it. so unless you can dodge missiles I don't see much of a point in having a mobile shooting enemy

1. There's toxic barrels near the factory. That means mutants. Mutants can do whatever the heck they wanted; in this specific case rats don't have to be on all fours.
2. It's an active factory with a parking lot full of cybernetic vehicles; you have to be a complete moron to not think security robots would fit in.
3. If you ever played any game ever, dodging missiles by jumping or running out of the way is a thing pretty much any video game character can do. I would know; I just beat N. Tropy in Crash N. Sane Trilogy, and one of his attacks are clock missiles you have to dodge. And besides, tanking stuff removes the challenge in what Jakub had described to be an already-easy game.

Now do me a favor and don't talk crap about my or anyone's art direction like some elitist, close-minded arse who refuses to see the bigger picture of things.

I wasn't talking crap I was giving suggestions. sorry you took it that way

1. rats SHOULD walk on all fours. I figured the only mutation was that they were the size of the player. doesn't mean they turn into splinter and just start running on 2 legs no problem. just seems weird to me
2. the main theme is that it is in a swamp with toxic waste. it would be nice for a more futuristic and robotic theme, but with the main themes as of now a robotic enemy wouldn't make much sense.
3.if they are shooting and moving, it would be annoying if you couldn't tank them. that is why no mobs in hh could move and shoot; because they would be literal cancer to grind. If jakub's idea of always taking damage was to go into play, nobody would enjoy grinding this mob. and as the game stands right now, anyone who couldn't tank that mob would also find themselves dying a lot.

Ah nice! I really like the robo-dillo! I think he could work well with upcoming area(s). I'll try to keep him in mind for the near future. The ray looks good, I would say maybe needs a little bit more to him or something. Although perhaps I could move his arms and such and it would add a bit of life to him.
