WhipMaster Ideas

Hello, my name is Simon Belmont. I come from the Castlevania Series, and as a Vampire hunter. My #1 weapon to use against monsters is my trusty whip. The issue is that whips in this game are pretty bad (compared to my sweet, beloved Vampire Killer), mainly because of buggy/jankyness. Now, of course I will be posting these issues in Bug reports, but listing the bugs will be involved in my suggestion.

(Tl;Dr) Whip has a good amount of jankyness and bugs to it that make it not as good as it should be, the main part of the whip should have skills that buff it a bit, and the whip should be classified as a 1 handed weapon but only allow a shield as a secondary in most cases.

The first bug I experienced was when I started off in Eliatopia, my whip was acting like a sword. The whip was in its folded state, and when I attacked, I lunged with it, it didn't make a CRACK sound, no flash, instead it did a Swoosh sound, and hit like it was a sword. I had to unequip & re-equip it to fix it.

The next bug I dealt with was that the whip's tip hitbox was all over the place. In Castlevania we Vampire Hunters never deal with needing to hit with the tip to do extra damage, it is a blessing when you see how a little bug, can ruin a weapon. When I swing my whip in a direction, the flash can appear in a random spot of where the animation is. Like it could appear as I wind my whip behind me. Or it will appear in the middle of the whip, halfway from the handle to the tip. Now this wan't only a visual bug either, when enemies where caught where the flash was, as long as they touch that and the whip, they took tip damage. For how important it is to try and hit with the tip, the last thing I need is for the whip to tell me where its' tip is.

The Final Bug I dealt with was using the whip on a slope or on certain angles. Sometimes I would whip in a direction of an enemy. But it wont' register, even though I can clearly see my whip hit the monster. And on a slope, the whip tip sometimes registers itself from hitting the slope, as I try to hit a foe on or off the ramp.

The main message I'm trying to get through is that it is very important to use these whip tip, but with these bugs, it is very hard to. Some of these will suggestions will help with it and some I think will improve the Whipmaster as a whole.

So here is my suggestions to the Whipmaster:
-The first one being is that for now, don't let skills nerf the damage of the whip base and boost the tip damage, for now, until these issues are fixed, maybe even after. But if the base must really be nerfed with tip buffed, then minimize the nerf. Like instead of -3% base damage, bring it down to -2% base damage.

-Second as far as I know, stating off, there is no skills that buff the base whip, or do something that can make it a bit better, so maybe skills that can make an effect or a slight buff with the base of the whip hitting someone. I wouldn't want it just to be a buff though, I would want it to me more of a you gain some, you lose some.

-Lastly, my final suggestion for now is to make the whip a 1 handed weapon. I do not know why it is considered 2 handed when you never hold it with 2 hands (and never should). But, you cannot just have anything in the secondary slot. It cannot be a weapon of any kind (except for some special weapons, mainly whips), for your secondary slot, you should be able to hold a shield. To get a little bit of a defense boost. I used a shield with my whip on my second quest to defeat Dracula, it was his own rib-cage.
