Damage or defense formula?

Ok, i don't even know if this is a suggestion. But the formula needs to be hot dang fixed. With 18k or 17k defense or sumthn, i get 1dmg from steel blocks. But add another 20k (get defense up to 31k) YOU STILL GET 1 DAMAGE??- Like, the formula is really confusing ion get it at all. Its so easy to block up 99% of damage. But there's that 1% that's like heIl to remove. Idk what to talk about here since i dont know much about how the formula works rn
