it's not that simple, 50 and 55 both are not multiples of 3, meaning when you upgrade it, you don't gain the same amount of hp per upgrade

Flash said you could make the base hp 19 and each upgrade worth 18 which would make it 55.

You like to make it complicated don't you?
It would be easier to make each upgrade add 15 or 20 additional HP instead of messing with basic HP.
