You know how mobs may poison people? Currently, there is nothing on envenomation, that is toxins working like real-life venoms. Granted there is only one mob in the game right now that uses venom, the Scorpee, but it would make sense to make the idea work.
Mechanically, envenomation is basic: just allow poison damage to be dealt to players over time. Let's say, you have a mob that deals 10 poison damage over an envenomation time of 3 seconds. Also, let's say you have another mob that deals 10 poison damage flat. Here's what you get.
Mob A
Poison Type: Venom
Envenomation Time: 3 seconds
Poison Damage: 10
Poison Damage dealt after 3 seconds: 30
Mob B
Poison Type: Poison
Poison Damage: 10
Poison Damage dealt after 3 seconds: 10
As for how envenomation would factor into EXP, I'm thinkin about adding a multiplier based on how long a mob envenomates a player for. Here's how it would go.
Poison Damage*3(current poison damage multiplier?)*V
If monster uses Poison, V=1
If monster uses Venom, V=Envenomation Time
If you couldn't already tell, I was going for 1 second for each time envenomation deals poison damage to you. Mhmm.
But yeah, there's that. I think this should make some poison-elemental mobs more of a challenge.
