The thing with expertise currently is that the monsters don't have enough health for it to be viable since you can one hit them with like 400-500 damage and crits make you deal up to 4x that. Expertise is only good on the boss but you can solo it since you have to be 3 to open the gate. I think the next monsters should have less bonus defense and more health to make expertise a stat you want to get insted of maxing out your raw damage.
Edit: its just what I think the problem is, please tell me if im right or wrong I might read them comments at one point.

Simply wait for more updates especially new stronger mobs, at some point you will see it is very usefull.

yea I said that he should make his next enemys have more health insted of just making there defenses higher

As far as i know mobs HP, power and def is connected somehow to Xp so i guess we still need to wait at least few new mobs to see the point of maxing expertise. Also increasing only monster HP will allow lower players with lower stats to farm best mobs which will also cause too many ppl in one place.
