Are clamp traps supposed to be a one-time use?

Basically, every time I use a clamp trap, if it hits successfully, then it goes back into my inventory. (Unsure if this happens to other people.) However, my clamp traps have recently been disappearing, and this time, I had 53 and the next time I logged in, I had 4. Help?
