How does defence work in this game?

like I can do 3k damage but droids with 450+ defence make me deal 0 damage
like I don't get it.

Idk yeah it confused me a lot. Also to get min 1 dmg at droids you need like raw 50k dmg i think

You need 60k dmg to dmg droids just so you know
