Killed a noob botter

Post by MaxBlue01 » Wed Aug 17, 2022 9:20 pm

I found a random botter farming Scorpee (area 48, the top spot). He was spamming tornado (whipmaster) non-stop / autocloclicker. So i tryed to kill him. Unfortunately he was too strong for scopees to go near him, so i couldn't use them. So i went for option B: literally physically pushed him all the way to area 57 and used the statues to burn him. At no point he stopped spamming tornado, or tryed to talk / move. He stood immobile while i was pushing him.

botter IGN: Gobas06

I will very likely continue killing botters that i spot if i can :) (he had a bit of money on him btw). Nothing is going to spot me. I wonder if anyone did the same thing? (Maybe with different method). As far as i'm concerned, all botters are noobs.

Note: i can't use most mounts (especially th strong ones) to kill other players, because i often glitch when i try to change area while being on a mount.

I have a low end pc, meaning that the video quality will be horrible and laggy, I myself wouldn't enjoy a video with such bad quality. That's why cinos.

Dude this is about reporting people, not an art form. Thanks for letting botters get away with it ig.

Sorry cinos but I'm 11 as you can see from this post: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10387. I will have to wait until Christmas to get a better pc, but even in this situation where inflation is present, I think it will be hard to get myself a better pc. My apologies, cinos.

Honestly, i don't even care at this point about the botters presence. That's not one of the main problems of this game for me. The game have tons of more important problems that need to be fixed. I rather want players to focus on helping Robby to fix those major issues rather than reporting a random botter.

Also i don't really know how to make a simple video (screenshots are fine), and i don't really have created a YouTube channel, so i'm not really sure how i would have used the video anyway.

First off, thanks for admitting you turn a blind eye to cheating, second, make one or use an alternative.

Personally, i see botting as an extremely cheesy way to farm. As far as i'm concerned, you do NOT get more exp/coins. So therorically, the exact same results can be achieved by someone who constantly spam his spammable skill while ignoring any chat. The only difference is whether the player is sitting 5+ hours at his PC doing the same thing over and over again, or if he is afk while his programm do the farming work for him (keep in mind he might miss good drops if he is afk, like runes).

Personally, there is a big difference between:
- programming a simple farming method by auto-clicker
- modifying the game's code for unfair advantages (like giving yourself 1M emeralds without paying).
Just to be clear, i'm not saying botting is fine or morally acceptable for the normal player. Just that's it's on a different level than actual hacking.

You want to get rid of botters? Here is an idea: let the game detect if someone is standing still for 10+ minutes (for exemple), then let the game spawn a random "anti-botter" monster that is invincible and can 1-hit kill the botter regardless of his HP/defence/evasion/shield skills. Oh and that monster will ONLY kill the botter (he is compltely harmless to anyone else, even lvl 1 players), and will despawn once the botter is dead. Up to you what you want to do with the botter's ressources: drop 100% of his money? Drop the usual money according to his money sacrifice skills? Drop all is equipped stuff? That being said, the hard part will be of course to programm a reliable way to detect botters. Maybe players can initiate by telling the game (like by a button, similar to "report") if they suspect a player for botting. And then the game programm can try to verify if those suspicions is correct or not.

Pretty sure several other RPG games have a similar botting problem (even with different methods), and some of them have a solution to fight botting (one exemple i have in mind is Tales of Destiny (search for Barbatos Goetia)).

nonsense
I'm not even BOTHERING to analyze your apologist bυllshit, it is cheating, let me tell you why your argument is actual nonsense.

Like, basic question, WHY do people bot? That's right, to have the game play itself, so that they can make exp while they sleep, ergo, make more exp than everyone else by using macros. They are doing it to gain an unfair advantage.
Now, why do people cheat? To gain an unfair advantage...That is literally what botting does. It's not a "cheesy way of grinding", it's not even DEBATABLE, botting is almost always seen as cheating, and is almost always ban worthy. This is not just the case for Eliatopia, it's ban worthy in basically most games. This is not a debate, this is a commonly known and agreed upon fact.
By the way, because you're somehow not bright enough to get this, cheating is the broad term for using non game legal techniques to gain an unfair advantage, hacking is a FORM of cheating, by altering the game's memory to give you more of something valuable, or, in some other cases, give you an optical or aural advantage (i.e. changing foosteps to be much more noticeable, which is why most multiplayer games limit how mods work on servers via settings). Cheating has many forms, botting, the use of exploits, memory editing, it's not as simple as "hacking into the mainframe and getting 2m emeralds", that's child's play to detect and ban.
You might not know this if your game library is limited to only barely known indie MMOs, but botting DOES happen in other games, and it is incredibly ban worthy there, moreso than in elia infact. Example? Team Fortress 2, back in the day people used programs to farm item drops, which had a rare chance of being hats (INCREDIBLY valuable when they first came out by default). All the drops had monetary value, since weapons could be turned into metal, which is used to craft hats, and the community has turned it into part of the game's currency. These "idling" programs mimicked the engine so that players could run the game without sucking in resources. While the difference is the use of different programs, the action of having the game basically play itself with unfair means, is the same. There was no memory hacking, only the incredibly unfair use of a program to simulate player activity for items...botting, in every sense of the word, that community simply has different lingo.
Now, what happened? Well, Valve noticed, wiped the items, banned all the botters, and gave anyone who did not bot a halo hat as a reward. After that, they reworked the drop system, so that it needed player input for every single drop, rather than just dropping the item into your inventory...note how this did not excuse the botters exploiting a game's weakness via programs for money, they didn't just get a slap on the wrist, UNLIKE most cheaters here which just come back after a month.

Botting is cheating, period. Here's the wiki article in case you're interested in decade old info on a dead game: https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Idling
