Mythbusters

Post by cinos » Fri Jul 22, 2022 8:50 pm

Hey so we kinda had an idea today and I thought it required a group effort. I thought of doing some kinda mythbuster thing, debunking or confirming myths about eliatopia and such. Thing is, I need to know what myths people have about the game. Note that myths are things you can supposedly do but can't, not some crazy fanfiction about bigfoot existing in eliatopia.

So, do you have anything you vaguely remember and want me to check? You'll get credit for being cool 😎

Myths:

1) for warrior, mage and gunnman classes, using a 2-handed weapon usually does more DPS (might depend of skills, stats, equipment)

2) for guns weapons, more bullet damage (power) is better than higher RPM

3) a character with no armor, 0 defence stat and all defence debuff (like warrior / whipmaster skills) can die to a squisher

4) having 40 expertise + X attack stat is better than 0 expertise + "X+40" attack attack stat (might depend of skills, especially critical skills, especially for whipmaster) (X being a random positive number other than 0, the precise attack stat depends of the class)

5) having 20 HP and 40 defence points is better than having 220 HP (40 stat points = + 40 x 5 HP) and 0 defence stat (more stats distributions can be tested. Higher numbers can be tested.) (keep in mind there are enemies (and players) that deal poison damage, which ignore defence)

6) very strong enemies can drop low level rune stones (elemental runes might depends of enemy type) (the point is to prove that killing low levels monsters is uneccessary to get low level runes)

7) it is better to use any runes as soon as possible on any equipment you use currently (including gaining 1 defence stat by using lvl 1 hardening stone), instead of waitting to get the best late-game armor + weapon to use runes on them.

8) If maxing all your general + main class skills (that you want anyway. Pretty sure lot of people don't spend skill points on item sacrifice), the next best class to spend skills is mage (for travelling dangerous area with a magic shield. Also provide support for other players) (if the main class was mage, the 2nd best class to spend skills is warrior if going for a defensive build)

9) You can use a weapon class (like sword) to use his passive skill (like rage), then switch to your main weapon (like gun), while keeping your passive active.

10) You can lure monsters in an area to kill someone AFK that the monsters can reach and damage. (Not including riding mobs from other areas)

11) Robby will check and make a pertinent comment on this post: https://www.eliatopia.com/forum/viewtop ... f=5&t=9611 (no it isn't advertising, it's a myth. Fair warning: there is a lot to read)

12) (BONUS MYTH): the squisher have a 1 / 1 000 000 000 chances (1 billion) to drop a lvl 5 poison rune. (gl proving that one wrong :) who want to be top ladder on killing that many squishers?)

I think that's enough myths to keep the community busy about mythbusting. I would like to see the experiments and the arguments for each of those myths (except 12, which is a joke)

A lot of what maxblue posted are...frankly, extremely opinionated or things not worth mentioning, with the exception of like 2 or 3 myths, those are interesting. I'll keep note of these, thx.

1. i believe 2 one handed weapons have higher dps especially because of one handed weapon pro skill, allows u to attack faster.
2. depends what you mean by better. in farming, yes, pvp, no.
3. you cant die to a squisher. at level 1 no equipment, you cant take any damage
4. yes, especially if u have all the crit skills maxed
5. 20hp and 40 def is better unless ur fighting smth that only deals poison damage
6. no but i wish that were true
7. no, why waste money buying runes on armor everytime u get a set? runes on armor besides hardening is pretty useless unless you pvp a lot
8. yes but you should be able to avoid and tank everything. if you cant, then its worse cuz of the stun when your bubble breaks, leaving you extremely vurnerable
9. you cant ive tried it
10. monsters that arent being ridden cant cross thru areas
11. i hope
12. im not even gonna try
