Ya know, as the primary artist for the game, I wanna say that, while I've worked with the Robster, he had grown quite a bit as a dev. Back when Helmet Heroes was a thing, the story only barely got off the ground. After the haunted forest area, everything got roadblocked. That's not mentioning all the enemies just walked left and right, with the birds being the sole exceptions (their homing mechanic making them the most unique of monsters). I tried filling the void with more birds and flying mobs complete with Flash files and animations, but nothing ever materialized out of it, leaving birds as an underutilized concept.
Now? I've seen Robby fully commit to a story about a dystopian environment inside and out. Mobs actually detected and attacked you, although their pathfinding did leave a bit to be desired. Sure, most of them were "hit and be done with it" deals, although some mobs like the Logon and Scorpee had multiple attacks, and some mobs even had unique gimmicks like the Titanium Droid with their chaining attack and the Sentries whose bombs deal less damage the further away you were. And quite frankly, while the game was average for an MMORPG, basically like Minecraft Dungeons was average for a roguelike game, its story was basically the best part of it. Story is the most important aspect of an RPG, and Eliatopia's story was fun to go through, even though I hardly played the game since things started getting a little power-creepy (basically when Steel Blocks and Znakes became a thing).
And whereas Helmet Heroes' payvault was so bonkernuts that you'd be wondering if you were playing a gacha game or not, Eliatopia held off on the more gacha-y ideas until basically when the main story is coming to a close, which I find was an admirable effort to keep the payvault at least somewhat clean on Robby's part.
Of course Robby had been honest with his plans, but he's an indie game dev. Honesty is usually their thing.
That being said, I wanna thank you all. It was a fun ride, and I hope to see more of Eliatopia in the future.
